I began my birth doula practice in the winter of 2001 and trained as a postpartum doula in the fall of 2002. I have experience working with pregnant and birthing women in prison, birth mothers and adoptive families, and teen mothers and have worked in a wide variety of settings from hospitals to homebirths. I am guided by the belief that all women and families deserve an informed and supported birth experience. For this reason, all services are offered on a sliding scale and trade is also considered a legitimate form of compensation. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions. Here is what some former clients have said about working with me: "As first time parents, my husband and I were relieved to have you there to answer questions, listen to our concerns and navigate delicate extended family dynamics before the birth. But the best part was knowing you were right there for both of us during the birth of our son. It took a lot longer than we planned but you were my amazing cheer leader the whole time and the friend my husband needed." "People hiring a doubla need to remember you are there for BOTH of the parents, not just the mom. Your fantastic sense of humor saved us all (nurses included!) from taking ourselves too seriously despite a very long labor. Having you there was not helpful, it was crucial to the overall experience. I doubt I could have worked that hard without you there. Thank you!" |
