Birth Doula Services

As your doula, I help you truly understand all of your options and how different decisions will affect your overall experience. Sometimes these decisions come easily, while other times they can involve digging deeper into your true concerns and hopes to ensure that are setting yourself up for a rich and authentic experience.
By taking the time to fully prepare and engage, birthing families find that they feel more capable of weathering the unpredictable elements of birth and beyond. By providing a steady presence and the belief that women and their loved ones are strong and capable, I support powerful and memorable birth experiences.
Prenatal Contact:
As your doula, I will meet with you at least three times prior to the birth of your child:
The first meeting is considered an interview and allows us an opportunity to meet and determine whether we would be a good match.
The second meeting is spent discussing your plans, hopes and fears. This meeting is designed to ensure that as your doula, I have a thorough understanding of how you would like to be supported at your birth.
The third meeting is a chance to reconnect as your due date approaches. This meet-up tends to be the least task-oriented and serves as an opportunity to relay updates and continue building familiarity and trust.

Please Note:
Optional additional prenatal meetings are available on an as needed basis. I offer one on one childbirth education and birth-planning, which can take the place of a group or hospital class or serve as a valuable compliment to such classes. Additionally, I have specific training and experience working with survivors or trauma and abuse and encourage additional meetings to plan for a positive birth experience if you are a survivor. Please let me know if you would like assistance assessing your need for more specific and tailored prenatal support.
Once we have agreed to work together, you can always call me at any point during your pregnancy if you have non-medical questions or concerns and I will get back to you on the same day that you call me.
When You are in Labor:
When I commit to being your doula, I am committing to be on call two weeks before your due date until you deliver. In order to prepare to attend your labor, I appreciate as much notice and information as you can provide, (for example, a quick call to update me that you have been having steady contractions, or if your water has broken, etc.) Many people like to have their doula meet them at home before heading to the hospital, while other people prefer to have their doula meet them at a later point in labor. Whatever your preference, please keep in mind that it may take me as long as an hour and a half to reach you and plan accordingly.
Postpartum Contact:
At some point during the first few days after the birth, I will arrange to come visit you. This meeting serves as an opportunity for us to both process the birth as well as make sure that your needs are being met during your adjustment to parenting. About two weeks later, we will arrange one more casual meeting in order to close the relationship and make sure you have all the resources you need.
Please note: I am also trained and experienced as a postpartum doula and offer continued postpartum support to my clients on an as needed basis or will happily refer to trusted colleagues.
