"A natural birth was extremely important to us. A home birth would have been ideal, but our insurance did not agree. Since a hospital birth was our only option, I knew I'd need an advocate with me at the hospital to make sure all went the way we planned unless there was an emergency. Christy was not only an excellent advocate, she also helped guide my husband and me through our pregnancy, answering all my questions (and I had a lot!), bringing me resources, and making welcome suggestions along the way. As we got closer to and eventually passed my due date, Christy made herself readily available if I needed her. Once our girl was finally ready to be born, Christy made sure we knew we could count on her to be there whenever we felt ready to have her with us. Just as she had for the months leading up to birth, Christy helped guide me through my natural birth, working with the nurses to make sure I was taking advantage of all the natural pain management that I could. She even took excellent pictures of the whole thing-this was great as we weren't thinking about our camera at all and now we have a beautiful record of Avani's birth. A few hours later, our girl was born- a healthy 9lbs 3oz. She stayed with us as I attempted to breastfeed for the first time and talked me through what the heck the nurses meant by a "nipple sandwich". By the time it was all over, I felt like I had not only an advocate, but a good friend as well. In the weeks that followed, Christy made a couple of house calls to make sure all was well with me and our new baby and answered the million questions I had. She even brought over a sling for me to use while I figured out my Moby wrap! I highly recommend working with Christy-she knows what she's doing and she's a wonderful resource." -- Fiona

"Before ever giving birth, I didn't really know what a doula was. I knew I wanted someone to help both my partner and I, but I had only a vague conception of what birth would be and what a doula would bring to the experience. Now, having given birth to two daughters, both times with Christy as our doula in a hospital setting, I know how ultimately magical, transformative, and powerful birth can be and how essential it is to gather people close to you who will empower and nurture you through the experience. Christy provided that service for us: she helped us navigate the tough choices presented before, during, and after birth, she informed and gently guided us through the birthing process with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and she provided us with towels, water, juices, aromatherapy, massage, praise, words of encouragement, words of wisdom, and words of action. Looking back, I don't know how I would have made it through the experience of birth without her, nor would I want to birth again without her by my side. She is a gem, and you will be so fortunate to have Christy by your side too." --Devon
"Christy helped me to feel safe, confident and comfortable in the weeks leading up to the natural, vaginal, hospital birth of my twins. Always professional and warm, as well as intelligent, she made me feel comfortable enough to share all my feelings about birth and to ask her for her thoughtful advice, which was never pushy or unsolicited. She came to the hospital very promptly after I called her and was a calming presence throughout the very fast births. She was an essential part of delivering my boys in a gentle way and to top it off she took some great photos of their arrival. I feel a strong doula is a must at a gentle birth, and the doula for me is Christy! My words really don't do her justice." --anonymous
"We have two wonderful sons ages 18 months and 3 years we adopted at birth. We hired Christy as a doula for our son's birthmother for each of the deliveries and she played a profoundly important role. Christy was a beautifully compassionate, patient and knowledgeable advocate for our birthmother and yet equally kind and open with us as adoptive parents. Christy was very professional in every way and we are so incredibly thankful she was a part of our children's birth." --Michelle
"Choosing Christy as our doula was one of our best choices, especially in a birth experience that did not go as we had envisioned. In meeting up with her several times before the due date, she became a close friend that helped us develop our plan. She was able to ask us questions and come up with scenarios to help us prepare for our birth. She is able to use her 100 plus doula experiences for preparedness and guidance in a very positive manner. My husband and I feel we would not have had the same birth experience without Christy because we had someone on our side the whole time during labor. Our labor ended up being much more complicated than we had anticipated and, despite all of the complications and deviations from our birth plan, Christy supported us all the way and made us work through our decisions so that, in the end, we were happy with our birth experience. Our birth was much more calm and relaxing than I thought it could be thanks to Christy’s support, knowledge and experience. We highly recommend Christy as a doula and would recommend her to anyone we know. " -- Erika and Kemal
"Christy gave me her bagel. That might seem like a small thing. But it isn’t. For my first birth I labored for 36 hours and Christy was there. For my second birth, we didn’t know how long I would labor. When I got hungry, I was really disappointed because it meant that I was not as far along as I thought. I tried fluids but I was just plain hungry. I hadn’t thought to pack snacks for me because I was never hungry during my first birth, and none of the snacks for my partner sounded palatable. Christy’s bagel was something special. Even more special because hospital cafeterias don’t have much to offer Christy; it was a limited resource, and none of us knew how long we would be there. It was a fabulous bagel! It was just what I needed, she knew it, and she provided it for me. My baby was born less than two hours later."
