About Me

My name is Christy, and I am a full-spectrum doula living and practicing in Portland, Oregon.
I received my birth and postpartum doula training at the Seattle Midwifery School in 2001 before it became a part of Bastyr University. Over the past decade I have attended more than 280 births in both hospitals and homes; worked with pregnant women in prison, in recovery, and placing for adoption; and I have also worked with many who were dealing with pregnancy loss or termination.
When serving in my role as a birth doula, my goal is to ensure that each clients’ needs and desires are at the center of the care that they receive-- that the birthing family is the author of their own birth. I do this by:
The lessons that I have learned by taking such a holistic and thorough approach have helped me to become a well-rounded, flexible and trustworthy doula to have on your support team—regardless of what kind of birth you seek.
It is important to me that all people have access to doula support. I encourage you to get in touch with me regardless of your situation and together we will explore your unique circumstances. Even if I am not able to work with you or we both feel that we are not a good match, I can almost always help you find a good match among my network of peers.

When serving in my role as a birth doula, my goal is to ensure that each clients’ needs and desires are at the center of the care that they receive-- that the birthing family is the author of their own birth. I do this by:
- Listening to each client (and the birthing team) as they explore their hopes and concerns for the birth;
- Assessing readiness for the experience they seek and filling in gaps in their information;
- Planning for and weathering unexpected twists and turns;
- Keeping the birthing team informed, calm and centered; and most importantly
- Standing by their side as they experience the challenges and joys of their labor and birth.
